El Bautismo del Señor

BaptismofChristEl Bautismo del Señor

January 13

The Bautismo del Señor is a religious day commemorating the baptism of Jesus Christ.

The Baptism of Jesus was originally celebrated during the Epiphany and in 1955 Pope Pius XII instituted a separate commemoration day. It is proclaimed a second-class feast by the Vatican.

It is on the first Sunday after the Epiphany.

The celebration marks the official end of the Christmas season and the 14th of January is the season called “ordinary time.”
