Whether you are travelling back to Canada or have decided to remain in Mexico, you may need to contact the Mexican authorities in order to obtain information on the possibility of extending your tourist visa or your vehicle temporary importation permit due to the COVID-19 crisis. You will need to contact them directly in order to give them the information they require to assess your case.
The Mexican immigration offices remain open. However, they may have reduced hours of operation. They can be contacted through their main office in Mexico City (55-5387-2400 or 800-00-46264) or through the State immigration office of your current location. You will find the contact information of the offices by State under this link: https://www.gob.mx/inm/acciones-y-programas/horario-y-oficinas-del-inm
For questions regarding your vehicle importation permit, you will need to contact the Mexican customs office. From a Mexican number, dial 55-6272-2728 options 7 and 6. From a Canadian number, dial 1-877-448-8728 options 7 and 6. You can also find information on their website (in Spanish only): http://omawww.sat.gob.mx/aduanasPortal/Paginas/en/index.html#!/vehiculos
In case of emergency, call us at 55-5724-7900 ext. 379-3348 or send an email to mxicocs@international.gc.ca. Please leave a message, we will call you back. If the office is closed, your call will be automatically transferred to the Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Ottawa. The centre operates 24/7 and may be reached directly at +1 613 996 8885 (call collect where available) or sos@international.gc.ca
If you have returned to Canada and have no intention to travel in the near future, simply access your file at https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/registration and modify the travel date and destination details by changing the departure date to the date on which you returned to Canada. If you are unable to change the departure date, send an email to roca@international.gc.ca or mxicocs@international.gc.ca with the date you arrived in Canada. Should you have already informed us of your departure, please be patient, we are doing our best to close registrations as quickly as possible.

Pour toute question concernant le permis d’importation temporaire de votre véhicule, veuillez contacter le bureau des douanes mexicaines. Depuis un numéro mexicain, composez le 55-6272-2728 options 7 et 6. Depuis un numéro canadien, composez le 1-877-448-8728 options 7 et 6. En cas d’urgence, appelez-nous au 55-5724-7900 poste 379-3328 ou envoyez un courriel à mxicocs@international.gc.ca . Veuillez laisser un message, nous vous rappellerons. Si le bureau est fermé, votre appel sera acheminé au Centre de surveillance et d’intervention d’urgence à Ottawa. Le Centre est ouvert 24 heures sur 24 et 7 jours sur 7, et peut être joint directement au +1 613 996 8885 (appel à frais virés dans certains cas) ou à sos@international.gc.ca
Dans l’éventualité où vous seriez déjà revenu au Canada et n’auriez aucune intention de voyager, il vous suffit de modifier votre dossier sur https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/registration. Entrez dans « Modifiez les renseignements de voyage » et changez la date prévue de départ pour la date de votre retour au Canada. Si vous ne pouvez pas modifier votre date de départ, envoyer un courriel à roca@international.gc.ca ou mxicocs@international.gc.ca en indiquant la date de votre retour au Canada. Si vous nous avez déjà averti de votre départ, veuillez être patient, nous faisons de notre mieux pour fermer les enregistrements le plus rapidement possible.
